I'm ready to begin carrying a weapon on occasion. I've been shooting most of my life and am looking at several options. Something small, capable and not going to break the bank. I'd love to have a Glock 9mm but wow their expensive. I'm also condidering a Kal Tec. Advice from experience would be greatly appreciated to help me make a decision.

2 questions - what's your purpose for carry and what do you consider expensive? A good used Glock can be had for under $500.

I would never sacrifice quality for price.

A used Glock can be had for around $350. A new Glock can be had for $500 or so. I have 3 Glocks and carry one of them when ever I tire of carrying my 1911 pistols. If you are set on 9mm the Glock 19 is a sweet ride.

I have a KelTek P11 and used to carry it but it is a hard gun to shoot accurately. It has a heavy trigget pull of 8-10 pounds. It is also uncomfortable to fire vey many rounds through it while practicing.

Take a look at the Stoeger Cougar. It used to be manufactured by Beretta. Stoeger is a Beretta subsidery and there guns are reliable and low cost at around $400. Low cost does not always equate to poor manufacturing.

I was always a fan of the ol 38spl aireweight. if you want a semi auto Glock is a great way to go or even the Ruger LCP. Not a big fan of Kel-Tec's though.

I Agree, a S&W .38 special airweight snubbie is what I carry.

Thanks all for your replies. I'm going out tomorrow to check some guns out. I'd really like to come home with the glock 9mm.
