I've just been turned on to the Springfield XD subcompact 9mm. It gets great reviews. I want to begin carrying a concealed weapon on backpacking, hiking , camping trips etc. The 9mm is my choice and I was hoping someone had some personal experience with this gun.

I bought one for my girlfriend which she carries in her purse. While she likes it, I find the grip a bit small for my large hands. With the extender grip, it feels better but looks out of balance. I can hit skeet at 25yds with hers.

I don't know how much stock you guys put into nutnfancy on youtube, but he's got a XD vs. Glock "shootout" video where the XD jams multiple times ON CAMERA.

I know I know, it's just internet bull*%&^ but it's still a little interesting, and worth further investigation.

the sound of light rain and burning leaves is the same.

I had problems with mine having light primer strikes. I had to completely disassemble and clean the striker channel. The only thing I can think is I had oil in there from cleaning. Maybe its routine to clean that but i've had my Glock for six years and have never had problems and have never opened the back of the upper reciever. Could be my fault, but i've lost confidence in the XD and I plan on getting a Glock 19, i'm just waiting to see the gen.4's.
