I'm planning on sending away my M59/66 and my Norinco (once I receive it) to get the trigger pull lightened and the 'safer' firing pin installed. I've never had a firing pin issue with my SKS because I keep all my firearms cleaned and lubricated. I can see where you'd run into problems if you neglected your rifle and let all that crap gunk up in the firing pin hole.

I'm pretty religious about keeping it all clean. I've never had a problem either.
